Aug 05, 2009 I am trying to date a couple of old Norinco 1911 pistols. Both are Government Models and feature 401XXXX and 408XXXX serial numbers respectively. Luxonix purity free download full version. From what I have read, the Norinoc 1911 was stopped from further U.S. Importation in or around the 600,000 serial number range.

It does not say imported by anyone on it so is it a pre ban weapon? On the Left side it says, Model of the 1911A1 Norinco 45 AUTOMATIC. On the lower, Made in China by Norinco The right side has nothing on the slide and the serial # down below 515xxx On the bottom in front of the trigger guard it says IAC BILLERICA, MA It has the standard 45 military grips and a lanyard ring on the bottom.
Don't really know anything about them but what I have tried to read here. It was a hand down to me. Thanks for any info on it. I have a Norinco M1911A1 45 cal auto that I wish to understand some more. It does not say imported by anyone on it so is it a pre ban weapon?

That is the import mark there. And it was imported prior top the ban. Look here: and here:.
Thanks for the links Thirties. I had read through a bunch of them.Seems like all of them I read had the markings on the side and not under the frame. Now I understand. I don't plan on keeping the weapon but wanted to know what it was so I can pass on the info when I sell it or at least know what it is so I am not totally taken.I have a motorcycle I need to repair here in Tennessee. Need another one? Here are some pics of it anyway to share them.
I have blocked the last two serial numbers in the first pic. Thanks again, Neil. Thanks for all the responses. I see that it is worth keeping and enjoying it.
A friend of mine said he would just hold it for me if I needed some cash to get the scooter repaired and give it back to me with something for his trouble. As I cleaned it up some and oiled it it 'thus shiny in the pics' that reminded me of my days in the military when I carried a 45 cal. Good feelings and thoughts of those days even though it was a while back. Probably a good rule not being able to post in the for sale section for 30 days after joining or I would of posted it and sold it already. If for some reason I do let it go, I will come back and post it on this site where someone who would enjoy it can get it and enjoy it.
Thanks again for all the info.
